Thanh Pho Xanh Project was initiated as a Project Preparation Technical Assistance (TA) by Quang Tri Province under the AFD – European Union funded Cities Development Initiative for Asia (CDIA), with implementation support from the Urban Development Agency (UDA) under the Ministry of Construction. The project aims to advance climate-resilient urban development and green growth through strategic infrastructure investments, particularly in flood-prone and vulnerable urban areas.
Our team led overall project development and served as the main point of communication between the Project Management Unit (PMU), AFD, and CDIA, coordinating and managing the expert team throughout the assignment. Our role included reviewing the proposed project within the city’s master and sectoral plans to ensure strategic alignment and effective integration of climate resilience components.
To support long-term project objectives, we reviewed and validated analysis on hydro-meteorological, including climate change projections and natural hazard scenarios to ensure climate-proof design and appropriate flood protection and adaptation measures. In addition, our team coordinated stakeholder consultations, assessed climate resilience capacity development needs, ensuring the project’s adaptability to climate change and other social inclusion aspects within planned urban works.
The project preparation strengthened the technical robustness and climate resilience of proposed urban investments, ensuring alignment with long-term adaptation objectives. By integrating flood protection standards, climate risk assessments, and inclusive employment considerations, the study supports sustainable, socially responsive, and climate-resilient urban development in Quang Tri Province.
