Context

Climate change remains a serious threat to development and poverty reduction efforts as reflected in most country planning documents and country partnership strategies. Developing Member Countries (DMCs) emphasized the need for stronger integration of climate change risk management into the development process and in implementation of programs, projects and technical assistance (TA).

The project aimed to strengthen the capacity of Developing Member Countries (DMCs) to use climate information effectively in planning and investment decision-making under climate uncertainty. The technical assistance (TA) focuses on improving climate resilience across key sectors, including agriculture, water, energy, transport, and urban development, while integrating disaster risk management as a core component of resilience building.

What we deliver

Our team member offered technical support as Data Management Specialist, leading the design and development of a centralized adaptation guidance database. This included coordinating with the TA-9414 team and sector specialists to compile, review, and harmonize existing datasets, ensuring completeness, consistency, and usability. We developed an interactive and searchable database covering agriculture, energy, transport, water, and urban sectors, transforming technical inputs into a user-friendly digital resource. In addition, we prepared database-focused presentations to support workshops, consultations, and knowledge-sharing sessions.

Expected outcome

The project delivered a structured and accessible adaptation guidance database that enhances the ability of DMCs to integrate climate risk considerations into sectoral planning and investment decisions. The database will support effectively regional responses to climate change with well-organized climate and adaptation data.
