PPS for the Thanh Pho Xanh project: Urban development, green growth, and climate resilience

Client: Berim through Agence Française de Développement (AFD) and Cities Development Initiative for Asia (CDIA) | Duration: Nov 2021 – July 2022 | Location: Dong Ha, Quang Tri, Vietnam

The proposed project targets Project Preparation Study for Thanh Pho Xanh: Urban Development, Green Growth and climate resilient aspects. It was initiated as project preparation technical assistance (TA) by Quang Tri province through the AFD – European Union (EU) funded window of Cities Development Initiative for Asia (CDIA) with the support of AFD and endorsement from national partner agencies. The implementing agency is Urban Development Agency (UDA), under the Ministry of Construction wing, with the support of AFD.

Key Tasks Achieved:

  • To improve urban services for the local population and the quality of life
  • To anticipate and mitigate the impacts of climate change
  • To enhance social inclusion, economic business environment and touristic attractiveness of the city by improving the landscape and services
  • Detailed analysis of hydro-meteorological, considering scenario/ impact of climate change and natural hazards and ensure project interventions are climate resilient
  • Define the level of protection or adaptation of urban centers against flood and determine protection works to be implemented in the project
