This project was undertaken to compile and analyze international experience on the development of eco, smart, climate-resilient, and sustainable cities, with the objective of informing urban policy and practice in Vietnam. The assignment supported national agencies in understanding global approaches, incentive mechanisms, and policy frameworks that enable sustainable urban transformation.
The work involved close consultation with key government departments and national experts to assess Vietnam’s current urban development context, identify challenges, and evaluate the relevance and applicability of international experiences to local conditions.
Our team members prepared an international background study through structured literature review and analysis of global case studies on eco, green, smart, and climate-resilient cities. The assignment included preparation of an inception report, detailed work plan, and implementation timeline. We developed analytical reports on international policies and incentive mechanisms supporting sustainable urban development, and summarized applicable indicators, indices, and performance measures. The findings were synthesized into draft and final reports, supported by presentation materials delivered through consultation and dissemination workshops with relevant stakeholders.
The project provides Vietnam’s urban institutions with a solid knowledge base on international best practices and policies for promoting eco, smart, and climate-resilient cities. By identifying applicable lessons learned, indicators, and incentive frameworks, this study supports evidence-based policy formulation and informed decision-making for sustainable urban development adapted to the national context.
