DESIGN CONSULTANCY FOR RESTORATION AND RE-DEVELOPMENT OF INDIRA GANDHI ZOOLOGICAL PARK, VISAKHAPATNAM – WORLD BANK CREDIT NO.5694 – IN

On October 12, 2014, a very severe cyclonic storm ‘Hudhud’ made landfall on the coast of Andhra Pradesh, near the city of Visakhapatnam and caused extensive devastation. The cyclone caused extensive devastation to flora, fauna, roads, buildings in and around the zoo. The environmental services rendered by Zoo (ecological/ conservation and environmental education/ awareness related) suffered extensive damages. In order to restore, improve and enhance the resilience of environmental services and facilities, the project was undertaken with a Loan from World Bank

The Consultancy tasks include Revising/ Modifying the existing basic Master Plan, Preparation of Detailed Project Reports (DPR) and Bid documents for the proposed Indira Gandhi Zoological Park. Activities include

  • Reconnaissance survey, preliminary survey, review of available plans/literature/technical information.
  • DGPS survey for Topographic and Soil survey.
  • Assess existing infrastructure and institutional capacity of staff/ officials at the zoo to arrive at suitable proposals for restoration and enhancement of facilities as well as capacity building of staffs to meet international standards.
  • Public consultations and key stakeholders in preparation of the revised draft Master Plan.
  • Preparation of detailed designs and drawings and estimates for the structures, enclosures, protection works, signage, and other works as per relevant IS codes and specifications.
  • DPR and environmental and social data for carrying out screening, EIA, and EMP in line with World Bank’s Operation Guidelines.
  • Prepare bid documents and assist the client in the finalization of procurement methodology including packaging.
