The overall aim of this assignment is to develop strategies and policies for managing the surface and subsurface water resources, while aligning with climate-resilient practices and SDGs for sustainable water management practices by coordinating with multiple stakeholders in the piedmont plains of northern Assam. It also focuses on developing adaptation interventions and strategies to avoid threats for groundwater quantity and quality, climate change and risk management information system for effective monitoring and evaluation.

Key Tasks Achieved

  • Identification of Climate – resilient practices for optimal groundwater utilization.
  • Development of best practice for groundwater conservation and management.
  • Enhanced capacity of local state actors and grassroot workers.
  • Development of new data and information through this study regarding the status of groundwater in the piedmont region of northern Assam.
